Parsnips in Thistle

This adventure with scraps has reached its natural conclusion, and the result is a cozy, colorful quilt!

It seems to be the season for purple. All these lovely flowers make the perfect surround for my finished Parsnips quilt with its Kona Thistle lavender colored sashing.

My Parsnips rectangles are all fabrics by Anna Maria Perry (formerly Horner), plus random solid fabrics from my scrap drawers. The stars are a pretty solid blue, studded with Anna Maria’s Lace Cobalt print.

I bound the quilt with a multicolor Tilda print that jives with all these happy tones.

And remember that Kona Citrus, which was just too bright for the sashing? It worked well for a quilt back! I found some Anna Maria fabrics for that right edge that complement the brilliant yellow nicely.

And just for fun, I integrated this blue Parsnips test segment into the quilt back! Now the backing really tells a story about how this quilt evolved. Not to mention that the solid fabric shows off Baptist fan quilting quite nicely.

Sewing a Parsnips quilt was an ideal project for this busy time in my life, with moving and the remodel of our new home. Sometimes simple, straightforward sewing is just the ticket to calm and soothe one’s nervous system. Plus, the vibrant, saturated Anna Maria shades definitely helped me keep my chin up in difficult times.

Thanks to all of you who joined the sew-along and/or purchased a Parsnips pattern. I really appreciate your support of my work!
